Community groups in drought-affected parts of Queensland have been urged to apply for a share of $15 million in Federal Government grants.
“The Coalition Government is investing $15 million in the Regional Drought Communities Small Grants Program and I urge all eligible community organisations to apply,” Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said on Wednesday.
The small grants will be available to not-for-profit community groups to deliver projects in drought-affected regions focusing on reducing social isolation, leadership development and skills training and other group-based activities.
“We’ve been on the ground listening and now we’re taking action by introducing funding measures to help drought-stricken communities,” Mr Littleproud said.
“This funding builds on more than $1.8 billion in Federal Government funding for drought assistance since 2013.”
The first round of applications for community grants opened on October 26.
The distribution will be managed by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.
