An irate Kingaroy resident chased a thief who stole his 4WD on Sunday night, ramming the vehicle in Wieden Street.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney, said police were called to the traffic crash about 8:30pm on Sunday.
They discovered that one of the vehicles, a Holden Colorado, had been stolen from the driveway of a house in Fairway Drive after it was left unlocked with the keys in the ignition.
“The owner of the Holden Colorado attempted to chase the stolen vehicle, locating it on Wieden Street,” Snr Sgt Tierney said.
“When the owner located the vehicle, the offender attempted to drive off, causing the owner to ram it with another vehicle.
“Extensive damage was caused to both vehicles.
“The offender has then run off on foot, with the owner following but unable to catch him.”
Snr Sgt Tierney said the male offender was Caucasian, about 178cm tall with a slim build.
