A special group gathered at the Kingaroy RSL Club on Saturday, some of whom hadn’t seen each other for half a century.
The men all served as RAAF armourers, or “gunnies” as they prefer to be known, during the Vietnam years.
Armourers are the servicemen who load the all-important bomb and bullet payloads on planes and helicopters.
The men and their wives travelled from the Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Maryborough and Caloundra for the reunion.
All worked on either Iroquois choppers or Canberra bombers at Vung Tau or Phan Rang.
Kingaroy was selected as three of the veterans now live in the town.
Barry Krosch, who served as a Leading Aircraftman in 2nd Squadron, was the main organiser of the reunion.
The group enjoyed lunch at the club.
They now hope to make the reunion an annual event.
