Farmers are being urged to have their say about the effectiveness of Queensland drought support measures by completing an AgForce survey as well as taking part in an independent State Government review.
“The Queensland Government’s review of its drought programs is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on what assistance measures are currently in place and what could help producers prepare for future droughts,” AgForce CEO Michael Guerin said.
“We encourage producers to get involved and have their say.”
Mr Guerin said AgForce was preparing a submission and was seeking input from farmers via a new survey.
“The last major drought survey we did with members was in 2015 and the situation for many farmers has changed significantly since then so we want as many people as possible to complete the survey over the next few weeks,” he said.

Agriculture Minister Mark Furner also urged producers to provide feedback on Queensland’s drought program.
“With drought foremost in people’s minds, now is the best time to work with industry and the community to review government, industry and community actions through this drought and think about improvements for future droughts,” Mr Furner said.
“The panel are holding forums in six regional locations and are seeking written submissions through the drought program review website until October.
“I encourage community members to attend these forums to have their say and to submit their thoughts online for the panel to consider.
“They will look at what has worked well, what could be improved, and how we can better prepare for future droughts.”
The nearest Drought Program Review workshop to the South Burnett will be held at the BMO Conference Centre, 178 Drayton Street, Dalby, from noon to 2:00pm on September 28.
