Toowoomba detectives are seeking public help to locate a good samaritan driving a blue Holden Commodore sedan in Cambooya on Wednesday morning.
The driver gave a lift to three people who may be able to assist with an investigation into the ramming of a police car and the theft and arson of a vehicle.
A white Mercedes-Benz SUV was stolen from a Newtown house in Toowoomba on September 9.
At about 8:30am on Wednesday, police observed the stolen SUV in James Street and parked behind the vehicle.
The SUV reversed into the unmarked police car before driving forward through a fence and yard.
The vehicle then drove north on Kitchener Road.
At 9:45am police were notified a Mercedes-Benz had been set alight at Cambooya near the intersection of Kuhn and Perrin Road and three young people were seen to run from the vehicle.
A woman and two men shortly afterwards obtained a lift from the driver of a blue Holden Commodore sedan near the Cambooya Bowls Club area.
Police are requesting the driver of this vehicle contact police to assist the investigation.

Police are warning residents about a scam which is targeting people who advertise their vehicles on online sale sites.
The latest incident involved an unknown person/s depositing a cheque into the victim’s bank account through the use of an ATM.
This cheque was cancelled overnight, before the funds had transferred into the victim’s account. The person/s had taken possession of the vehicle when the cheque was originally deposited.
On occasions, people have provided identification, and completed the transfer of ownership forms.
Police have advised people conducting a personal sale of a motor vehicle to ensure the money has been transferred into their bank account prior to changing ownership and allowing the property to be taken away.
