Two men who rescued a young boy from a burning house in Kingaroy earlier this year have been recommended for bravery awards by Kingaroy Police.
Senior Sergeant David Tierney confirmed on Monday that recommendations had been submitted to recognise Lex Petersen and Patrick Drinan for their actions in March.
The men rescued a four-year-old boy from the Kingaroy Street blaze – first by trying to get the front door open, and then by smashing two windows.
Aided by Lex, Patrick reached into the burning building to lift out the frightened toddler.
Tragically, the boy’s father and two brothers died in the fire.
Patrick and Lex have also been nominated for Pride Of Australia awards, a joint Australia Post / Channel 7 / News Limited program to recognise extraordinary actions by ordinary Australians.
