Federal Agriculture Minister and Member for Maranoa David Littleproud says Labor’s true colours have been exposed by its State Conference voting at the weekend to ban all live exports.
“There are around 10,000 jobs based on the live export industry, most of them in rural WA, Queensland and the NT. Labor wants to erase these jobs and those communities because they don’t vote Labor,” Mr Littleproud said.
“These farming families have done no wrong yet the Labor Party is out to destroy their way of life.
“Federal Labor keeps telling us it will stop after it has banned live sheep exports; it says it won’t ban cattle exports. But then its Queensland organisation votes to ban the lot.
“The cat is out of the bag and we know where Labor is going on live exports – a full ban.
“You’d think Labor would have learned from the disaster it created in 2011, but it refuses to.
“Labor just doesn’t understand the country.
“Any Labor MP more than 50km from a capital city is only there because they got lost.
“Labor doesn’t understand farming.
“Labor doesn’t understand what it’s like to live on a dirt road.
“Labor doesn’t get that we need farmers to grow our food.
“We can’t all grow alfalfa sprouts to sell to Toorak and Bondi cafes as Labor would like.
“Beef and sheep farming is a noble and honourable profession and I’ll defend it all day long.”
