Police are hunting burglars who broke into a house and an adjoining granny flat in South Nanango last week while the occupants were asleep.

The incident occurred at Old Esk North Road on August 23-24.

The offenders ransacked the premises, including the granny flat, stealing money and wallets.

They also tried to steal a motorcycle.

A 31-year-old Kingaroy man has been charged with drink-driving after a single-vehicle crash in Nanango last Monday (August 20).

The incident occurred at the intersection of Cairns Street and Appin Street West.

The driver allegedly returned a positive breath test reading of 0.148 BAC.

A 24-year-old Nanango man who allegedly accelerated away in a silver Holden sedan after he spotted police patrolling in Elk Street last Tuesday (August 21) has been charged with a number of offences.

Police later located the driver at a Nanango address.

He has been charged with evading police, disqualified driving and possessing a drug utensil.

He has been bailed to appear in Nanango Magistrates Court on September 20.

On Friday, residents in Gipps Street, Nanango, contacted police about a vehicle doing burnouts in the median strip.

“The driver of the vehicle showed total disregard for road rules and also for other vehicles and property surrounding where the offence occurred,” Nanango Officer-In-Charge Sgt Brett Smith said.

“Police investigations took place and thanks to the stupidity of the vehicle occupants filming their actions and placing it on social media, an 18-year-old Tarong man has been issued with a Notice to Appear before the Nanango Magistrates Court on September 20.

“Thanks go to the concerned persons who shared the media with others to enable police to inspect and take further action.”

The driver has been charged with driving without due care and attention.

On Saturday afternoon, wallets and money were stolen from a house in Bushnells Road, Nanango.

Police said the owners had only left the dwelling for a short period when the thefts occurred.

Sgt Smith said investigations had linked the incident with other offences from around the district, including a stolen motor vehicle from Toowoomba.

Police are awaiting the results of forensic evidence.

Police are investigating the theft of a number of blankets from a clothes line at the rear of house in Brisbane Street, Nanango.

The theft occurred at some time between August 19-21.

A 26-year-old Nanango man will face a charge of stealing after police reviewed CCTV footage from a business in Fitzroy Street, Nanango.

The thefts allegedly occurred on August 19.

The man is due to appear in Nanango Magistrates Court on September 20.

Three drivers allegedly returned positive drug saliva tests after being stopped in the Nanango area by officers from the Road Policing Unit and Nanango Police in separate incidents between August 19-21.

As a result of the positive roadside tests, the drivers were transported to hospital where blood samples were taken and sent to Brisbane for further testing.

If these blood tests are positive, further action will be taken in Nanango Magistrates Court.

A 39-year-old man from Nanango will appear in Nanango Magistrates Court on September 20 to face a charge of unlicensed driving after police pulled over a Ford sedan in Butts Lane, Nanango, on Sunday.

A 38-year-old Nanango man also received two infringement notices for being towed on an unregistered and uninsured motorcycle.

A 48-year-old Nanango woman will appear in Nanango Magistrates Court on September 20 after police spotted her sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle in the early hours of Saturday morning. 

Police will allege she was not the holder of a current driver’s licence.

The vehicle’s number plates were also confiscated for 90 days.

At 12:40am on Sunday, police from Nanango and Kingaroy CIB were called to Drayton Street, Nanango, in relation to a disturbance outside a hotel.

A 51-year-old Kingaroy woman was arrested and transported to the Kingaroy Watchhouse where she was charged with a public nuisance offence.

She has been bailed to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 8.
