Wondai dog lovers will soon have a special place to exercise their pooches, thanks to the local Lions Club and the South Burnett Regional Council.
An off-leash dog area is being developed after the Wondai Lions were successful in securing a Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant.
The fenced area will be located at Sunstrup Park in South Street, next to the tennis courts.
Wondai Lions Club president Fred Law said a contractor had been hired to erect a 1.5m wire fence around the area.
The entrance will be beside the exiting toilet block.
The existing shaded picnic table will be within the off-leash area, providing the perfect spot for owners to relax as their pets have a romp.
The club is also hoping to organise some obstacles for the dogs to explore and enjoy, including open concrete pipes and steps.
Cr Ros Heit said Council had approved the project and will continue to mow the area.
