Export cattle prices stayed firm at the latest fortnightly sale in Murgon last Tuesday, but the market for all other classes eased slightly

700 were yarded in Murgon on Tuesday, August 14 and export cattle remained fairly firm, with the rest of the yarding selling to cheaper rates.

Cattle were drawn from Mt Perry, Durong, Biggenden, Gayndah, Kumbia, Kingaroy and the Murgon district.

Sale results:

  • Heavy Bulls sold to $2.25/kg and $1950
  • Export steers topped at $2.60/kg for $1530
  • Cows over 500kg topped at $2.14/kg, averaging $2.02/kg
  • Cows 400-500kg sold to $2.10/kg
  • Cows under 400kg topped at $1.80/kg
  • Charolais cross steers from Kumbia sold to $2.65/kg. returning $1240
  • 460kg Santa steers from Redgate also sold to $2.65/kg and $1220
  • Local Charbray steers sold to $2.60/kg and $800
  • Braford cross steers from Mt Perry Sold for $770 at $2.33/kg
  • 2 pens of Charbray weaner steers from Durong sold for $684 & $650 at $2.68/kg and $2.72/kg respectively
  • Braford cross weaner steers from Mt Perry sold to $640 at $2.40/kg
  • Charbray heifers from Boondooma sold to $2.40/kg and $1110
  • Weaner heifers topped at $2.15/kg with a big percentage selling from $1.80-$2.00/kg
