Applications are now open for Round 4 of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program.

Up to $150,000 is available in each Federal electorate to support small capital projects which aim to benefit local communities.

The South Burnett is split between three Federal electorates:  Wide Bay (Murgon, Cherbourg, Goomeri, Kilkivan), Flynn (Wondai, Proston, Boondooma) and Maranoa (Kingaroy, Kumbia, Nanango, Yarraman, Blackbutt)

“Eligible organisations, including Councils and incorporated not-for-profit community service and sporting groups, can apply for grants of between $2500 and $20,000 that are supported by matching cash or in-kind contributions from other sources for the project,” Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien said.

“The SCP is a great opportunity for councils and community service and sporting organisations to seek funding for projects to help them improve their facilities and strengthen their communities.”

Organisations interested in bringing forward SCP project proposals should contact the Wide Bay Burnett RDA on  (07) 4124-2526 for more information.

Mr O’Brien said the region has been very successful under previous rounds of the Stronger Communities Program, gaining funding for projects involving the Kilkivan Men’s Shed, Graham House, Goomeri Show Society, Murgon Lions Club and the Murgon Dairy Museum.

Grant guidelines, eligibility requirements and the application process can be found online

“Applications will be prioritised by a local Stronger Communities Program Committee and assessed against the SCP guidelines to ensure that project proposals deliver value for money,” Mr O’Brien said.

Proposal nominations close on August 31.
