Christmas may seem a long way away, but Kingaroy’s Christmas Carnival committee are already starting to plan this year’s event.
And they want to invite everyone who’d like to help put together one of the South Burnett’s biggest Christmas carnivals to come join them.
The committee will be holding a Meet ‘n’ Greet at their next meeting on Thursday, August 2.
It will be held in the meeting room of Kingaroy’s Carrollee Hotel at 7:00pm.
“We’d like to invite anyone in the community who’d like to lend a hand to come along, meet the committee and see what we do,” president Craig Lucas said.
“We have a dedicated core of volunteers who’ve been helping put the Christmas Carnival together for many years, and we’d like to add some new faces so that some of them can take things a bit easier.
“It’s an old saying but it’s true – the more hands you have on deck, the less work there is for any individual to do!”
The Kingaroy Christmas Carnival Committee was formed several years ago to take over the operation of the popular annual event.
The Carnival was formerly organised by South Burnett Young Leaders Association, but was at risk of disappearing when the group decided to wind up their operations.
However, under the committee’s guidance it has continued to grow and prosper ever since.
“We have a very enthusiastic, friendly, happy and successful organisation,” Craig said.
“But like any volunteer group, we need to welcome aboard new members to ensure things keep humming along.
“Joining the committee doesn’t involve a big time commitment, and the buzz we get from putting the Carnival on for our community is priceless.”
Anyone who’d like more information about the group but can’t make the Meet ‘n’ Greet is also welcome to phone Craig on 0455-993-899.
This year’s Kingaroy Christmas Carnival will be held on Thursday, December 13 in Kingaroy Street, Haly Street and O’Neill Square.
