South Burnett U18 Eagles’ march to the finals has received a kick along with a hefty full-time score against Toowoomba Brothers last Saturday, and a forfeit by Oakey this weekend.
South Burnett had a slow start against Brothers, leading by just a converted try at half-time, 18-12.
But it was a different team which took to the field in the second half … keeping Brothers’ scoreless while at the same time piling on try after try.
The final scoreline was 64-12.
South Burnett tries were scored by Kaia Williams (2), Thomas Springate (2), George Fisher, Corey Cross, Tyreece Gyemore, Jackson Mladenovic, Dion Handford, Jakeb Mead and Jack Sullivan.
Thomas Springate kicked 10 goals.
The top six teams will go through to the finals competition in the TRL Under 18s competition.
South Burnett are currently holding down fifth spot but are probably rueing their sixth round draw against Dalby which has left them one point behind Southern Suburbs and Gatton.
There are only two more fixtures games ahead for the Eagles, against competition leaders Highfields and another match-up with Dalby.

Two Senior games were also played on Saturday in Kingaroy: Nanango v Murgon and Kingaroy v Cherbourg.
Nanango recorded a not-unexpected win but Murgon should be congratulated as the first team to turn up the heat on the Stags for weeks.
The sides were locked at 10-all midway through the first half, and the half-time score was a respectable Nanango 20, Murgon 10 – despite the Mustangs having a player in the bin.
The Mustangs continued to fire after the break.
With 14 minutes left, Murgon was still holding the Stags to within spitting distance, behind by just 10 points … but then Nanango put on three quick tries to run out winners 42-14.
Nanango tries were scored by Blake Harvey (2), Patrick McCallum (2), Lachlin Smith, Shane Argent, Rhyse Simpson and Brent Greenslade.
Lachlin Smith kicked three goals and Rhyse Simpson kicked two.
Murgon tries were scored by Jameel Sullivan, Stafford Saltner and Jason Webber.
Maurice Fisher kicked one goal.

Saturday was the Red Ants’ “Old Players Day”, with former Kingaroy players returning to the Ant Hill for their annual reunion.
It was fitting, then, that the Red Ants notched up a 32-24 win in their Seniors game against the Cherbourg Hornets.
Kingaroy led 16-14 at half-time.
Brady Roberts finished the game with three tries for the Red Ants.
