With only four games left before the finals, just two competition points separate the top five teams in the Toowoomba Rugby League U18s competition.
The South Burnett Eagles are holding down fifth spot with 19 points.
Ahead of them are Highfields (21 points), Dalby (21), Souths (20) and Gatton (20).
On Saturday, the Eagles held on to defeat sixth-placed Valleys 24-18 in a vital game in Toowoomba.
South Burnett were ahead 18-4 at half-time but let the Roosters back into the game with four tries during the second half.
Eagles’ tries were scored by Nic Plint, Jackson Mladenovic, Jack Sullivan and John Blair; Thomas Springate kicked four from four.

South Burnett’s match-ups over coming weeks are against Brothers (this Saturday in Kingaroy) and Oakey (in Wondai on Sunday, July 22).
These will be great opportunities for local fans to cheer on the South Burnett team.
The Eagles then come up against Highfields and Dalby.
The venues for these games haven’t been announced but the Highfields match is most likely going to be away, while the Dalby game may be in Kingaroy.
Highfields proved a handful for South Burnett earlier in the competition, downing them 36-8 during the “Pink Ants” day at T.J. O’Neill Oval.
A week later, South Burnett played an 18-all draw against Dalby, also in Kingaroy.
