Forensic Crash Unit police are investigating a fatal traffic crash which occurred near Tansey on Monday afternoon.
Initial inquiries indicate a Ford Ranger 4WD utility and a truck collided on the Burnett Highway, eight kilometres north of Tansey, about 4:45pm.
The force of the collision forced the truck into a crash barrier on the side of the highway.
A second truck, unable to stop in time in the wet conditions, then hit the rear of the first truck.
The driver of the 4WD, a 23-year-old man from Mountain Creek on the Sunshine Coast, died at the scene.
The two truck drivers were transported by ambulance to Murgon Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.
Investigations are continuing.
