The Nanango Race Club will be wrapping up its 2017-18 racing season this weekend with their Autumn Race Meeting.
Saturday’s meeting will have a “Capes, Culottes and Cravats” fashion theme and patrons who dress to it will be able to win prizes in the Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of the Field competition.
St Mary’s Catholic College will also be celebrating their annual day at the track, bringing along a busload of patrons from Kingaroy for a day of fun and frivolity.
Saturday’s meeting will have five races on the card, with Race 1 scheduled to jump at 1:20pm.
There’ll also fun activities for children in the grounds, and the club’s popular Champagne@the Bit bar will be serving up platters all day alongside the race club’s dining room, which will be offering sit-down sandwiches, cakes and snacks.
People visiting Goomeri for Sunday’s Pumpkin Festival can escape for an afternoon of fun by catching a free bus to and from Lee Park.
The bus will depart from Joe’s Grand Hotel at about 11:30am and return after the last race, and seats can be booked by phoning Lesley on (07) 4163-1513.
For locals, buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy’s Glendon Street Bus Depot at noon, and the Nanango RSL at 12:30pm.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under 15s are free) and gates open at 11:00am.
Saturday’s meeting is being sponsored by Tom and Helen Greenslade, Nanango RSL, St Mary’s Catholic College, Heritage Nanango Community Branch and Nanango Vet Surgery.
The Club’s next race meeting will be the Nanango Cup in August, which is always one of the race club’s biggest meets of the year.
