Brady Roberts breaks through a tackle to score for Kingaroy just after the restart of the second half

May 4, 2018

Kingaroy kept their undefeated record intact last weekend, proving too strong for the Murgon Mustangs at T.J. O’Neill Oval on Saturday.

The Red Ants started strongly, putting on three quick tries before Murgon drew first blood at the mid-point of the first half.

At half-time, Kingaroy led 26-12.

It was more of the same in the second half, with the Red Ants romping home 38-16.

The gap could have been larger with Kingaroy almost scoring twice more in the last 10 minutes – one attempt held-up over the line, and a second ruled a forward pass.

In the other Senior game, Nanango defeated Wondai 94-10 under lights on Friday night.

South Burnett’s defence was brutal at times, particularly in the first half

A draw was the fitting result for a tough U18s game between the South Burnett Eagles and Dalby Diehards, played earlier in Kingaroy on Saturday.

South Burnett dominated in the first half, scoring three tries to one, while Dalby reversed their fortunes in the second – also scoring three tries to one.

At half-time, the Eagles led 14-4; the full-time score was 18-all.

Both sides would be regretting conversion kicks which went astray, although the South Burnett had the worst luck, with two kicks hitting the uprights.

South Burnett tries were scored by Connor Sullivan (2),  Nic Plint and Tom Springate. George Fisher kicked one goal.

Dalby tries were scored by Jaylan Bond, Martin Foelz, Jamie Kermond and Lachlan Thomson. Jaylan Bond kicked one goal.
