Woolworths Kingaroy will start to put signs around its store to remind shoppers of the deadline

May 3, 2018

Woolworths customers will soon begin to notice in-store reminders at the Kingaroy supermarket to bring their own reusable shopping bags.

Single-use plastic bags will no longer be available at the store after June 20.

“At Woolworths we are committed to listening to our customers and also doing the right thing for the environment,” Queensland General Manager of Operations Matthew Franich said on Thursday.

“We are proud to be able to help create a greener future for Australia with our customers by removing single-use plastic bags.

“We appreciate that it will be a big change for our customers and we will do what we can to support them through the transition to make it as smooth and simple as possible.”

In the lead up to June 20, there will be more signs in-store and at checkouts reminding customers of the change.

“Our local team members will chat with customers regularly to ensure they know about the upcoming change and the various options available,” Mr Franich said.

“They’ll also be sharing tips on how to remember to bring reusable bags when shopping.”
