The South Burnett Show Society stayed close to home for their annual Show Dinner on Friday night … electing to hold the glittering event in the Kucks Pavilion at Kingaroy Showground.
Anyone who pictures the pavilion at showtime filled with displays of cakes, flowers and sheafs of sorghum would not have recognised the building!
Strings of fairy lights hung from the ceiling, glittering tea lights were everywhere and in the corner of the room, the mini-train which carries guests around the annual show was strung with more lights.
On stage, live music was providing a backdrop for the buffet dinner.
Show Society president Gary Barron thanked the diners for supporting the show, and especially thanked everyone who entered the Miss Showgirl competitions.
He also thanked his committee members and volunteers, without whom there could not be a successful show.
He said the Kingaroy Showgrounds were a facility that benefits Kingaroy and the whole of the South Burnett.
“It is very important that people support our show so that we can keep it looking good,” he said.
“After it’s all said and done, it’s your showground, not the committee’s.”
2017 Kingaroy Miss Showgirl Courtney Retschlag sashed the winners of the various show competitions:
- Miss Showgirl – Courtney Burrows
- Rural Ambassador – Will Johnson
- Miss Junior Showgirl – Remy Favier
- Little Miss Showgirl – Lily Reidy
- Miss Show Princess – Chloe Retschlag
- Show Queen – Mavis Rasmussen
The Kingaroy Show will be held on May 5-6.
