Kathleen Gogerley will be heading the Kingaroy Dance Crew team

April 1, 2018

No, this isn’t an April Fool’s Day joke … a bunch of Kingaroy High School students is hoping to break a world record, for disco dancing!

The record attempt is being organised by the members of the after-school dance club, “Kingaroy Dance Krew”.

The group has been running for about a decade and are regular participants in the school’s annual Flair concert.

The big disco dance will take place at 11:00am on Monday, April 16, at Memorial Park in Kingaroy.

Other entertainment in the park, including a jumping castle, face-painting, cake stall and sausage sizzle, will run from 9:30am to 1:00pm.

It’s a pupil-free day, so the young dancers are hoping for a big roll-up from their fellow students but all children, aged 18 years and under, are also invited to join in.

The current disco dance record is 314 dancers under the age of 18.

The cost to take part in the Guinness World Record official attempt will be a gold coin donation.

All proceeds from the day will go towards new costumes for the Kingaroy Dance Krew.
