The South Burnett Eagles U18s notched up their first win of the season in the Toowoomba Rugby League competition on Saturday, claiming victory over Goondiwindi at Highfields.
It was always going to be a tough game for the South Burnett.
Goondiwindi had come off a big win in Round 1 (54-6 against Wattles) while the South Burnett side had suffered a narrow loss to Gatton.
Goondiwindi put the first points on the board with a try minutes after the kick-off, but the Eagles struck back quickly with two quick tries of their own, both converted.
Both sides scored again before the break to take the half-time score to 16-12.
Neither side troubled the scorer in the second half.
South Burnett tries were scored by Jackson Mladenovic, Nic Plint and George Fisher. Fisher kicked two goals.
Goondiwindi points came from tries to Thomas Davis and Brenton Clement; Tyran Adams kicked two goals.
