The first round of heats of the 2018 Big Break competition were held in Kingaroy on Thursday night, with three talented local musicians taking to the stage.
First up was singer / songwriter – and pianist – Laura Limb who sang and played six songs, including two she had written herself.
The audience in the beer garden at the Commercial Hotel enjoyed the performance so much they demanded an encore.
Next was Paula Jayne, from Yarraman, who was also an entrant in the 2012 Big Break competition.
She has continued to hone her musical skills since then, and in fact is just back from the Tamworth Country Music Festival where she was busking on the streets.
She also played her own songs as well as covers.
Last up on stage was guitarist Jordan Chapman, from Kingaroy, who goes by the stage name “Aksel”.
His face may be familiar to Kingaroy shoppers as he has busked outside Musicians Oasis in Alford Street.
Aksel is currently combining his musical interests with university study.
