Kingaroy State High School held its annual investiture ceremony on Friday morning in a packed Indoor Sports Auditorium.
An assembly of all students, special guests, parents and friends enjoyed performances by the KSHS Vocal Group and the KSHS Symphonic Band.
Guest speaker was local MP – and Opposition Leader – Deb Frecklington.
Mrs Frecklington talked about leadership and the ups and downs of life, both at school and afterwards.
She stressed to the students that failure is not fatal, and success is not final.
“The courage to continue is what counts,” she said.
She also told the students it was better to ask questions, rather than just sit on the sidelines and whinge.
“And if you’re not happy with the answer, ask yourself what can you do about it,” Mrs Frecklington said.
Guest speakers presented badges to form, band, choir and dance captains; Indigenous leaders; junior and senior school and house captains, and committee chairpeople.
All students who were given roles then took the Oath of Office.
Former Kingaroy Apex Club member Damien Tessmann presented the Stefan Planinc bursary to Year 12 student Chanele LeGrand.
The bursary honours a former member of the Kingaroy Apex Club who died in 1962, and is presented annually to a student who showed conscientious application to their studies in Year 11.
