The South Burnett Wine and Food In The Park Festival will be pursuing an all-local music line-up for the second year running following a positive reaction to the concept at last year’s event.
The Kingaroy State High School Concert Band will also be making a welcome return to the main stage.
Yesterday festival organisers released the entertainment schedule for this year’s event on their website, and plan to release other details over the coming fortnight in the lead-up to the event.
“We’re very proud to support local musicians,” president Dafyd Martindale said.
“We have some astonishingly talented performers in our region, and five of the eight groups who’ll be performing between noon and 8:00pm have never performed at Wine and Food In The Park before.”
Acts who’ll be appearing include Lazy Sunday, the Kingaroy State High School Concert Band, Natalie Fenton, Luke Medcalf and Dean Fleschfresser, 2 Bob Short, Skin and Bone, Mr Q and The Blues Excuse.
As usual, street performers will also be wending their way through the crowds throughout the afternoon.
“We have no idea what characters they’ll be adopting this year – we never do – but that only adds to the excitement,” Dafyd said.
“However, there’ll probably be stilt walkers and acrobats, and maybe a bit of fire-eating as well.”
This year organisers are also experimenting with relocating the Festival’s stage to provide the audience with a better view of the entertainment.
“Last year we relocated the bar tent and realised this blocked the view for some guests, so we’re seeing if we can provide more of an amphitheatre layout this year,” Dafyd said.
“We want to make it easy for guests to browse through the gourmet food village and still be able to enjoy the on-stage acts.”
The festival will be held at Memorial Park in Kingaroy from noon to 8:00pm on Saturday, March 10.
