A Kingaroy man charged after a woman’s body was found on the New England Highway near Yarraman on Christmas Day will face a new charge.
The 24-year-old man previously faced court on charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
On Wednesday, police also charged him with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and leaving the scene.
He is expected to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on February 12.
On December 25, police were called to the New England Highway near the intersection of Tarong-Yarraman Road at about 11.40pm.
Police allege a car was travelling north towards Yarraman when it struck a 51-year-old woman.
It will be further alleged the driver attempted to leave the scene before crashing in a nearby paddock, and fleeing on foot.
Investigators are continuing to appeal for anyone who was travelling on the New England Highway between 11:00pm and 12.30pm on December 25 to contact police.
