A driver was trapped in the cabin of his vehicle for about half an hour after his truck clipped the end of the crash barrier at Bells Bridge on Tuesday afternoon.
A QFES spokesman said firefighters had to use cutting gear to free the man from the wreck of the flat-bed truck.
He said the man suffered minor injuries and was very lucky not to have been more seriously injured.
He was taken by ambulance to Gympie Hospital for further treatment.
The incident blocked traffic on the Wide Bay Highway as emergency personnel worked to free the man.

A semi-trailer truck driver suffered minor injuries when his vehicle overturned on Chinchilla Wondai Road at Jinghi – near Darr Creek – on Monday afternoon.
The man, aged in his 30s, freed himself from the truck before emergency services arrived.
The incident occurred about 3:00pm.
Investigations into the cause of the incident are continuing.
