The Cooyar Show Society is getting ready to have a ball … or, more accurately, a cocktail party.
Last year the Show Society took an axe to its long-standing Cooyar Show Ball and cleverly reimagined it as a contemporary cocktail party instead.
The idea proved an instant hit, packing out Cooyar Hall despite record-breaking daytime temperatures in the area that reached as high as 41 degrees.
This year the Show Society is hoping the weather will be kinder on Saturday, February 10 when it gives the idea its second run.
With this year’s Cooyar Show and Campdraft looming on February 23-24, the Show Society has also put out a call for entrants in its Cooyar Showgirl and Teen Showgirl competitions.
It will be accepting nominations before the Cocktail Party, and judging will take place on the night.
There’ll also be a Junior Princess competition for girls aged under 12 during the evening.
Cocktail party guests will also be able to enjoy buffet finger foods, live entertainment by Kent Tonscheck (a local artist now based at the Gold Coast) and a fully licensed bar serving a range of exotic cocktails and mocktails, along with more everyday refreshments.
Doors will open at 6:30pm and tickets – which include food and entertainment – are $25 for adults, $15 for high school students or $5 for children under 12.
Nominations for the Showgirl and Teen Showgirl competitions can be made by phoning Jacinta Ryan on (07) 4692-6050 or 0429-868-259 or by emailing her.
