Daytime temperatures in the South Burnett are forecast to drop by as much as 16 degrees over the next three days.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) expect temperatures in Kingaroy to climb to a peak of 36 degrees on Wednesday before nose-diving to just 20 degrees by Friday.
Elsewhere, Ipswich is expected to drop from 34 to 24 degrees between Wednesday and Friday and Brisbane is forecast to go from 33 to 24 in the same period.
BOM meteorologists say a southerly change should cool south-east Queensland by the end of the week.
The South Burnett has had six weeks of daytime temperatures in the ranging between 29 and 37 degrees.
The change could also bring a small amount of rain to the South Burnett on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with cloudy skies.
BOM say the change should produce an increased southerly swell on Wednesday and Thursday, which is predicted to generate dangerous surf conditions along the coast.
