UPDATE January 29, 2018: An incorrect mix of pool chemicals which led to the formation of a toxic gas cloud caused the street closures in Murgon on Saturday.

A QFES spokesman said staff at the pool had accidentally mixed the wrong chemicals together.

The incident was reported at 10:00am and police set up an exclusion zone soon afterwards, blocking off four intersections close to the Jubilee Swimming Pool.

Queensland Ambulance staff were called to assess one person, and officers remained on standby during the cleanup.

The chemicals were intended for use in the pool’s filtration system, and were poured into the pool to prevent the release of more gas.

Clean up crews carried out atmospheric testing on Saturday afternoon and the area was declared safe at 2:40pm.
