Kingaroy’s renovated Memorial Park Rotunda was officially opened on Wednesday morning, although the $198,000 restoration project is still not totally finished.

The timing for the official opening was set months in advance so there was still some minor work to be completed, including a coat of protective paint and repairs to the steps, when the ceremony began.

Special guest was Queensland RSL president Stewart Cameron CSC, who travelled from Brisbane especially for the event.

After a brief talk, Mr Cameron joined with South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell to unveil the official plaque.

Councillors, council staff and RSL members were among the small crowd that watched the ceremony.

Deputy Mayor Kathy Duff was the compere for the morning.
