The South Burnett Community Orchestra (SBCO) will be hosting a series of Woodwind Workshops next Wednesday and Thursday, November 15-16.
The workshops will be held at the Uniting Church Hall on the corner of Alford and Youngman streets in Kingaroy, and all woodwind players are welcome to attend for one, some or all of the sessions.
The workshops are suitable for all skill levels, ranging from those who have only started playing recently or haven’t picked up their instrument in a while through to confident musicians.
They will be led by Margaret Harrison, an experienced teacher, conductor and music festival director.
Please register by November 9 if possible with Rhonda Smith on 0427-657-659 so the SBCO can arrange appropriate music.
The workshops will run from 1:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, November 15 with a light dinner provided; and from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Thursday, November 16 with a light lunch provided.
The program will include sessions on ensemble playing, orchestral music, Christmas carols and a master class where participants are invited to bring a piece to play for the group.
Musicians are welcome to join for all or part of the sessions, as they are available, and the cost is just $10 per day.
More details can be found on the SBCO’s website, by email or by contacting Rhonda Smith for more information.
The workshops are being supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund, a partnership between the Queensland Government and South Burnett Regional Council to support local arts and culture.
