The Kingaroy Concerned Citizens Group (KCCG) concluded their 385 Alive! art protest recently with an exhibition of entries and prize-giving.
KCCG spokesman John Dalton said the competition to record the area around Moreton Resources’ proposed Kingaroy coal mine near Coolabunia had drawn about 250 entries.
The competition had 24 sections, but three sections drew no entries and no prizes were awarded in a fourth section.
Darryl Jones won the main painting prize, with a painting of a farm gate echoing the shape of a crucifix.
Anneloes Warrener won the main photography prize with a dreamlike photograph of a small boy dwarfed by magnificent trees,
Apart from adults, the competition also drew a very good response from school children, with two sections for Prep to Year 6 and five sections for high school students attracting large numbers of entries.
All entries were exhibited at the Maryknoll Centre at St Mary’s Catholic College for the afternoon.
Judging of entries was carried out by Ben Stoffl, Patrick Burns and Darren Schmidt.

Section 1 – The Collection (Prep to Year 6)
