The Murgon Business and Development Association (MBDA) and the Murgon Men’s Shed have won praise for the community celebrations they organised to mark the official opening of the South Burnett Rail Trail on October 1.
At the MBDA’s most recent meeting, Deputy Mayor Kathy Duff told members she’d had great feedback from South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell and the Rail Trail Committee about the effort Murgon put in.
“As chair of the Rail Trail Committee I would like to personally congratulate everyone involved on a job well done,” Cr Duff said.
“The plan is to run a South Burnett Rail Trail event again next year, and I encourage Murgon to look at Council’s February sponsorship funding options in the major event category.”
Cr Duff said that ever since the opening, the Rail Trail has been receiving positive comments from visitors.
“As word gets out, it is starting to attract new visitors, too.”
