A former Kingaroy resident has been jailed after pleading guilty to multiple charges allegedly linked to his involvement with a Gold Coast chapter of the Rebels motorcycle club.

The man, 26, pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Thursday to charges including assault, arson, robbery and drug trafficking (Ecstasy).

The former Kingaroy school student told the court he became involved in crime after gaining work in the security industry.

After moving to the Gold Coast, he met members of the Rebels through his association with a gym.

The various offences occurred while the man was a “nom” (prospective member) of the club, and most involved internal club disputes.

Justice Martin Burns sentenced the man to four and a half years jail.

He will be eligible for parole in 14 months.
