Three Murgon businesses will be turning pink on Friday, to raise funds for breast cancer research.

The action will be happening from 7:00am to 9:00am outside Alicia’s Spa and Hair Worx, Murgon Saddlery and Carney’s Feed Store in Lamb Street, Murgon.

Host Alicia Pidgeon said there’ll be a sausage sizzle, pink cup cakes and a cuppa to enjoy.

“Come along and join in!”

All funds raised will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

This community-funded body makes grants to researchers investigating breast cancer.

This year, half of the funded projects have concentrated on metastatic breast cancer.

According to the Foundation, up to a one-third of women with breast cancer go on to develop metastatic breast cancer; the five-year survival rate for women with metastatic breast cancer is 40 per cent, compared with 90 per cent for all women diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Foundation’s goal is to raise $2 million from the Pink Ribbon Breakfasts which are being held across Australia.
