Tingoora State School student Izabella Lytton-Hitchens has won an iPad just for taking part in a gymnastics program run by at the South Burnett PCYC.
Launchpad is a program developed by Gymnastics Australia, delivered by qualified instructors.
It was funded by the Australian Sports Commission’s Sporting Schools program, an initiative to help school children participate in active sports.
Students taking part in the Launchpad program are provided with a small gift and the ability to redeem a free trial at their local gymnastics club.
Part of the gift also includes details on how to enter a competition to win an iPad from Gymnastics Australia.
Izabella was presented with her iPad by PCYC South Burnett branch manager Sergeant Rod Gelderblom and head gymnastics coach Pam Jones at a special assembly at Tingoora State School.
“The introduction of Sporting Schools has enabled local sporting organisations to reach out to students and showcase sports that may not have been before accessible to our school students,” Sgt Gelderblom said.
“Launchpad, in particular, gives the experience of gymnastics which has been well taken up and provided to a few of our local schools now and provides our youth with the skills that were normally not available away from the centre.”
