South Burnett residents will have the opportunity to discuss health priorities in the region at a series of events organised next month by the Darling Downs and West Moreton Public Health Network (PHN).

The consultations will aim to develop local strategies and programs to deliver better health outcomes for the community.

CEO Simone Finch said the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN needed help to “assess and understand the specific, primary health care needs” of the local community.

“The Charter of the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN is to ensure that all people living in our region, especially marginalised or vulnerable groups, have access to a responsive, integrated and high quality health system,” Ms Finch said.

“This is a great opportunity for the people of the Darling Downs and West Moreton Region to tell us about their health needs and talk to us about innovation and opportunities for improvement.”

Six key areas will be discussed:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health
  • Aged Care, including Palliative Care
  • Digital Health
  • Mental Health, including Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Population Health, including Chronic Disease Management, Accessibility of After Hours Health Services, Immunisation, and Refugee Health
  • Workforce Health

Local events will be held at:

  • August 3 – Kingaroy Community Conversations, 11:00am to 12:30pm at Kingaroy Town Common Hall
  • August 3 – Drop-In Booth, 11:00am to 2:30pm at Kingaroy Town Common Hall
