Former Nanango businesswoman Gabi Nehring has put up her hand to run for The Greens in the new State seat of Macalister, based around Beenleigh.
Ms Nehring operated an architectural design company in Nanango for many years, and also served on the board of the Bendigo Community Bank.
She moved to Eagleby several years ago to look after her parents.
“I am standing for The Greens because the party shares my passion for supporting family and community values. We will always work for and with communities, not against them,” she said.
“As your Greens candidate, I will stand up for marginalised people who cannot stand up for themselves. I will fight for equal rights for all – naturally, that includes my LGBTI community.”
The Greens have not yet named a candidate for the seat of Nanango.
Pundits are tipping that a State Election could be held as early as September.
