Applications close next month for budding Indigenous entrepreneurs hoping to jumpstart their business careers under the gaze of experts.

Barayamal’s Budding Entrepreneurs Program is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs who have a business or idea and a strong desire to make it real.

Dean Foley, founder of Brisbane-based Barayamal, said the program would provide free working space for four entrepreneurs at Australia’s largest community of scalable tech startups (Fishburners) as well as mentoring, workshops and training for three months in either Brisbane or Sydney.

The program will also include free legal, accounting, marketing, design and PR advice, and culturally appropriate support at each stage.

“As a member of Australia’s largest startup community, (they’ll)  have access to our extensive network of mentors, investors, media contacts, funding sources, potential customers and many more to help grow your startup,” Dean said.

The successful applicants will also receive mentoring from successful Indigenous entrepreneurs from Barayamal’s Business Accelerator Program.

Dean Foley said Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs could make a valuable contribution to their communities and help close the gap through entrepreneurship.

“Barayamal’s programs and events support Indigenous entrepreneurs to achieve that,” Dean said.

Applications close on August 27.
