Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien is encouraging local organisations to apply for Federal Government funding under Round 3 of the Stronger Communities Program.

“Local not-for-profit, community service, or sporting organisation groups in Wide Bay are welcome to apply for a share in $150,000,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The funding is available exclusively to groups in Wide Bay and can be used for small capital projects that benefit the community.

“Grants of between $2500 and $20,000 are available for eligible organisations, including councils and incorporated not-for-profit community service and sporting groups to purchase equipment, fund renovations, or build better facilities.”

The project must be supported by matching cash or in-kind contributions from other sources.

“The SCP is a great opportunity for councils and community service and sporting organisations to seek funding for projects to help them improve their facilities and strengthen their communities,” Mr O’Brien said.

The proposals will then be prioritised by a local Stronger Communities Program committee, and assessed against the SCP guidelines to ensure they offer value for money.

Organisations should consult the SCP guidelines and the frequently asked questions online here

“I encourage organisations interested in bringing forward SCP project proposals to contact my electorate office on telephone (07) 4121-2936, or the Sunshine Coast, or Wide Bay Burnett Regional Development Australia Committees through the website www.rda.gov.au for further information,” Mr O’Brien said.

SCP project proposals should be submitted by email to Mr O’Brien by July 31.

Previous rounds of the SCP delivered funding to a range of organisations including providing playground equipment for Murgon’s Rotary Youth Park and car parking at Castra.
