A Nanango woman who wishes to remain anonymous has won almost $1 million in Saturday’s Gold Lotto.
She was one of four Division 1 winners nationally who each took home a prize of $985,744.11.
The winner bought her 18-game QuickPick from Nanango Newsagency in Drayton Street.
The winner confessed she had been eagerly waiting by the phone for Golden Casket to call and confirm her win ever since she checked her entry.
“That is fantastic! That is fantastic! Now it’s confirmed I can believe it!” the woman exclaimed when a Golden Casket official called her first thing on Monday morning.
“I was looking at my ticket, sitting here marking the numbers down. I had two on one line, then four and then boom, boom, I got the others. It just didn’t seem real!
“My family were double checking the numbers. I said I won’t believe it until I get that phone call!”
The winner has plans to use her windfall to help her family, buy a new house, and travel.
“It couldn’t have come at a better time,” she said.
“It’s wonderful. I won’t have to worry about pinching pennies, cutting down on this and that. I won’t have to do that anymore!”
Nanango Newsagency owner Alison Warren said the agency had sold about four Division 1 winning entries during the past 15 years.
“Our biggest was a store syndicate that won $11 million in Powerball,” she said.
“We kept saying it was time for another Division 1 and that perhaps another win was on its way.
“It’s such great news. Congratulations to our customer. I hope they enjoy their prize!”
