Kingaroy Men’s Shed will be able update some vital equipment thanks to an $8600 grant from the Federal Government.

Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said the funding had come from the National Shed Development Program, a fund administered by the Australian Men’s Shed Association.

The money will be used to buy computers, a printer, office and training hardware,  and make a contribution towards internal wiring, lighting, power points and multi-power circuits.

Kingaroy Men’s Shed members meet every Wednesday and Saturday morning from 8:00am to noon at the Car Pool Shed at Kingaroy Airport.

“(It) has only been together for about 1.5 years and boasts about 36 members,” Mr Littleproud said.

“These members freely give their time and expertise to help the community and share skills and knowledge with anyone keen to learn.

“Men’s Sheds provide a welcoming environment where men – of all ages – can learn new skills, make friends, be involved in volunteer work, or you can just drop in for a cuppa and a yarn.”

Applications under Round 15 of the National Shed Development Program opened last month and will close on July 7.
