The Kingaroy Lions are gearing up for a big weekend of trail riding action as riders began to assemble on Friday night for the annual Lions Kingaroy Trail Ride.
The camping ground at Half Mile Creek Road, off Minmore Road at Benair, will be a hive of activity all weekend as riders battle for supremacy on the Pee Wee, Novice and Open tracks.
The popular annual event raises money for worthwhile causes, and this year – which almost marks Lions’ Centenary – it will have added significance.
This year’s Trail Ride is being sponsored by Stanwell Corporation, and Trevor Kilpatrick will be saying a few words on the company’s behalf at the official opening on Saturday morning at 8:30am.
Other local businesses that have contributed to the event include Reece Plumbing Kingaroy, Sunpork/Swickers, PCA, Ken Mills Toyota, Bill Hull Car Centre, Crumptons, South Burnett Hire and Sales, Kingaroy Plumbing Works, Kingaroy Motorcycles, Dalby Moto, Odes Superstore, staff of the Westpac Bank Kingaroy, Anderssons Fruit Market, Proteco Oils, ANZ Kingaroy, Commonwealth Bank Kingaroy and Kingaroy Tyrepower.
Their sponsorship is being used to underwrite the cost of having paramedics at the event as well as the cost of providing amenities for Trail Ride campers, such as toilets and hot water showers.
The Trail Ride will get underway shortly after 8:30am on Saturday morning and continue until dusk.
On Sunday, it will kick off again at 8:30am and conclude late in the afternoon.
The Lions will have hot food and a licensed bar running on site, and there’ll be Saturday night entertainment as well.
