Two people were taken to hospital after a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Rogers Drive and the D’Aguilar Highway south of Kingaroy about 10:45am on Sunday.

Witnesses said it appeared a car attempting to turn into Rogers Drive was rear-ended by another, which pushed the rear-ended vehicle into another vehicle.

The three vehicles involved were a white Nissan Navara trayback, a red Toyota Corolla Ascent and a red Ssangyong Korando towing a pop-top caravan.

Police, fire and ambulance units quickly attended the scene.

A male driver from one vehicle and a female passenger from another were taken to Kingaroy Hospital for observation.

Police investigations into the incident are continuing.

On Sunday morning, Cr Ros Heit confirmed construction of a roundabout on the Rogers Drive intersection is expected to begin after Christmas this year.

Cr Heit said the South Burnett Regional Council was aware that growing traffic volume on the intersection had created a need for safety improvements, and had applied for Black Spot funding, which had been approved.

Council staff are currently designing the roundabout, and work will start after the design receives approval from Main Roads.
