The market was dearer throughout for the 600 cattle yarded by agents at Murgon’s fortnightly sale on Tuesday.
All the regular processors and feedlotters were in attendance, as well as local and Downs restockers.
Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt. Perry, Biggenden, Durong, Nanango, Kingaroy and the Murgon district.
- The few bullocks yarded sold to $3.05/kg for $2037
- Heavy Bulls topped at $2.79/kg and $2650
- Heavy Export Heifers sold for $1640 at $3.00/kg
- Cows over 500kg topped at $2.65/kg for $1600
- Cows 500kg plus averaged $2.49/kg
- Cows 400-500kg averaged $2.38/kg selling to $2.60/kg
- Lighter Cows under 400kg topped at $2.26/kg, averaging $1.98/kg
- Heavy feeder steers from Manumbar sold to $3.25/kg for $1730
- 374kg Brangus steers from Shayamoya Murgon sold for $1305 at $3.48/kg
- Charolais weaner steers from R & O Rankin, Brigooda, sold for $3.91/kg returning $1295
- Charolais cross weaner steers from R & F Nichol, Mt Perry sold for $1267 at $3.72/kg and $1242 and $3.82/kg
- Santa weaner steers from L & L Graham, Nanango, sold for $3.84/kg to return $1114
- 265kg Euro cross weaner steers from E. Love, Mundubbera, sold for $1008 and $3.80/kg
- Thirty Limousin cross weaner steers from C. Love, Mundubbera, for an average of $785 and $3.89/kg, the tops selling to $958
- Murray Grey weaner steers from M. Saitzeff, Goomeri sold for $824 at $3.78/kg
- 200kg Droughtmaster weaner steers from T & A Dennien, Windera, sold for $762 at $3.80/kg
- 348kg Charolais cross heifers from Bandamill, Johnstown, sold for $1137 at $3.26/kg
- 327kg Droughtmaster heifers from M. Donahue, Tansey, sold for $1004 and $3.07/kg
- 370kg Droughtmaster cross heifers from Wagreen Pastoral sold for $1080 and $2.90/kg
- Charolais weaner heifers from R & F Nichol, Mt Perry, sold for $998 and $3.11/kg and $937 at $3.00/kg
- Two pens of Euro cross heifers from C. Love sold for $752 ($3.48) and $567 ($3.60)
- 215kg Murray Grey weaner heifers sold to $3.48/kg and $748
