Cowboys getting ready to head off to the Kumbia Brain Drain? (‘The Herd Quitter’ by Charles Russell)

April 3, 2017

Bookings have opened for this year’s famous Kumbia Brain Drain and tickets are apparently selling fast …

Or in the words of the organisers:

“Doggone it folks, looks like them ol’ west saloons stalls are goin’ faster then a high falutin’ fancy saddle-up sharpshooter. Sheriff, there’s gonna be some speed demons riding into town soon!”

As you may have guessed from this, the theme this year for the South Burnett’s biggest trivia night is “The Old West”.

In recent years, trivia lovers have explored sci-fi characters, horror, super heroes and Formula 1 at Kumbia, so it’s about time they dusted off their cowboy boots.

This will be the 24th year for the popular night, which is an important fundraiser for the Kumbia State School P&C.

It’s so famous that competitors have been known to travel several hundred kilometres just to attend.

Prizes are awarded every round, as well as for the best costumes.

The Brain Drain will be held from 6:00pm on Saturday, August 5.

Cost is $120 per table (six people) or $240 for corporate tables, which includes a light meal and tea and coffee – BYO esky and nibbles.

Bookings and payment must be made by July 5.
