This year’s South Burnett Wine and Food In The Park festival will have a completely new look.
The Giant Wine Tent that has dominated the popular annual event in Kingaroy’s Memorial Park will be gone.
In its place, the park will take on a village atmosphere with individual wine tents intermingled with food stands.
The Festival’s popular street performers will still be there, but this year they’ll be stilt-walking amongst the tents or popping out unexpectedly as guests graze their way around the park.
“We’ve had the same format for the last decade and while it’s been very popular with the thousands of people who come to the festival each year, we thought the time was right for a change,” committee president Chrys McDuffie said.
“Regional Flavours at South Bank has this sort of layout, and so do several other Queensland food festivals.
“So we’re going to go that way, too.”
The Festival will also move the main stage and beer tents to different locations in the grounds with the aim of providing better acoustics and improving patron comfort.
“We’ve always promoted responsible alcohol consumption and we think mixing things together will help us do that better, too,” Chrys said.
“Wine is always best enjoyed with food, and if you have to go past a few food stands with all their delicious flavours wafting at you, we think a lot of people will want to take it easy and relax.
“Wine and Food In The Park is all about families, school reunions and get-togethers with friends, and it’s something a lot of people look forward to each year because it’s such a relaxing day out.”
This year’s Wine and Food In The Park festival will be held at Kingaroy’s Memorial Park on Saturday, March 11 from noon to 8:00pm.
