A free money management course that teaches people budgeting skills and a simple, cash-based system that works will be held in Kingaroy later this month.

The CAP Money Course, devised by the debt counselling charity Christians Against Poverty, is run in hundreds of locations throughout Australia by churches that partner with the group.

The South Burnett course will run on February 20 and 27 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at a venue in Kingaroy.

It will be in an informal setting and numbers will be capped at eight.

Participants will learn how to build a budget, which is a cornerstone of managing your money well.

The course will also include advice about how to increase your income and cut costs.

The aim of the course is to help simplify money management and make it understandable.

It operates using three accounts for your money: a regular payments account, a cash account and a savings account.

The course also teaches how living on cash and getting away from cards helps you know exactly where you are, and also helps you spend less money.

“Doing the CAP Money Course means you will be able to budget, save and spend on the things you want,” CAP Money Coach Caroline Cavanagh said.

CAP courses have been run in Kingaroy since 2015 and many people who’ve taken the course have reported that it’s given them a new understanding of how to manage their money better.

You can register for a place in the next CAP course or find out more details by emailing Caroline or by SMS: 0490-267-161.
