The Federal Government’s new Building Better Regions Fund, which is designed to support local community and infrastructure projects in rural Australia, opened this week for applications.
Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien said the fund would support projects that strengthen an area and create jobs.
He said applications would be assessed in three categories depending on the size of the project, which meant small community projects were not competing against huge projects worth tens of millions of dollars.
“Flexible, fresh and creative thinking is often the starting point for successful applications. It is also important to clearly define the objectives and outcomes of the project to demonstrate the benefits for the region,” he said.
Applications will close on Tuesday, February 28, for the Infrastructure Projects Stream and Friday, March 31, for the Community Investments Stream.
