Five former executives of failed resources company Linc Energy have been charged with environmental offences over alleged contamination from the company’s former UCG site near Chinchilla.
The five – Peter Bond, Donald Schofield, Stephen Dumble, Jacobus Terblanche and Darryl Rattai – are expected to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court later this month.
Linc Energy was placed into liquidation in May with debts of about $289 million.
This followed legal action by the State Government against the company.
In March, Linc was committed to face trial in the District Court on five charges relating to alleged breaches of Queensland environmental legislation linked to the Chinchilla UCG site.
The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection alleged Linc wilfully caused serious harm by allowing gases created from the UCG process at its Hopeland site to contaminate nearby soil.
